The mission of The Pinwheel Project has always been the same. We believe that during a pediatric hospital stay, children and their loved ones need and deserve an extra layer of comfort and support. We achieve this goal by working to keep spirits higher and stress levels lower. All of our programming is provided at no cost to the kids, families or hospital regardless of diagnosis, length of stay or ability to pay. And when all possible medical treatment fails, we a committed to making sure that the child enjoys the best quality of life possible for whatever time they may have.

Without a doubt the most important thing we provide are the human touches that might seem small but make an incredible difference – a smile, a special snack, a new toy and a sympathetic ear for weary families and fearful patients. The emotional and practical support we bring insures that kids and families won’t ever feel alone during this difficult time. Our commitment extends to helping children experience the best "quality of life" during their time in Palliative and Hospice Care. The young patients we meet are truly amazing as they inspire us daily by their strength and courage.

 

The organization became a tax exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit charity in 2004 and the majority of our work continues to be at children’s hospitals in the Greater New York Area. Our programming is growing all the time as we strive to meet the needs of the children and their loved ones. Over 90% of all money raised by The Pinwheel Project goes directly toward the programs and services we provide. We rely on the kindness and generosity of friends and donors to help make all we do possible. It’s you, our benefactors, who enable us to touch thousands of lives every year in such meaningful ways. The goal is to wrap our arms around the entire family during this extremely stressful time in their lives.
